Vetoryl® (Trilostane) capsules are used for treatment of hyperadrenocorticism (Cushing's disease). Cushing's disease is a condition in which too much of the hormone cortisol is produced, and is normally released from the adrenal gland into the bloodstream. If left untreated, illness can become fatal.

How it works:

Vetoryl controls the adrenal gland's excess production of cortisol, a hormone released into the bloodstream during times of stress.

Storage:

Store Vetoryl at controlled room temperature 77°F(25°C) with excursions to 86°F(30°C) allowed. Keep this medication away from children and other pets.

Do not open capsules and do not attempt to split or divide capsule.
  • Vetoryl is used to treat dogs with hyperadrenocorticism, also known as Cushing's Disease.
  • Vetoryl capsules should be given with food.

Cautions:

  • Do not give this medication to dogs with kidney or liver disease.
  • Vetoryl Capsules should not be given to dogs taking certain medications or dogs that are pregnant.
  • Speak with your veterinarian about all medications your dog is taking, including over-the-counter medicines.

Possible side effects:

Some patients may exhibit reactions, including allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; swelling of the lips, tongue or face; hives), severe depression, bloody diarrhea, collapse, or other severe reactions. Other less serious side effects such as unexpected decrease in appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, and lethargy may occur. If you observe any of these side effects, contact your veterinarian as soon as possible.
