EQUIMAX® is an FDA-approved, the ONLY combination ivermectin/praziquantel dewormer proven safe for ALL horses including foals four weeks and older, pregnant and lactating mares, and breeding stallions.

For:

Horses (over 4weeks of age)

Benefits:

  • Safely and effectively rids horses of all major internal parasites including tapeworms
  • A single dose treats a broad range of equine parasites--including bots and tapeworms.
  • Best results are achieved when used in both the spring and fall.

How it works

EQUIMAX combines ivermectin and praziquantel. Ivermectin works by disrupting nerve impulses in parasites. It binds to glutamate-gated chloride ion channels which occur in invertebrate nerve and muscle cells which leads to an increase in the permeability of the cell membrane, thereby paralyzing and killing the invaders. Praziquantel works by damaging the parasite's skin internally so the parasite disintegrates and is removed by the horse's immune system.

Storage:

Store in a cool dry place.

How to Use

Do not smoke or eat while handling this product. Wash your hands after use. Do not use in horses intended for food.

  1. While holding plunger, turn the knurled ring on the plunger 1/4 turn to the left and slide it so the side nearest the barrel is at the prescribed weight marking.
  2. Lock the ring in place by making a 1/4 turn to the right.
  3. Make sure that the horse's mouth contains no feed.
  4. Remove the cover from the tip of the syringe.
  5. Insert the syringe tip into the horse's mouth at the space between the teeth.
  6. Depress the plunger as far as it will go, depositing paste on the back of the tongue.
  7. Immediately raise the horse's head for a few seconds after dosing.
Weitht Dosage
All weights (Over 4 weeks of age) Each oral syringe can treat one horse up to 1,320 lbs. Each weight marking on the oral syringe plunger delivers enough Equimax Paste to treat 220 lbs of the horse's body weight. Routine treatment should be repeated as appropriate

Cautions

EQUIMAX should not be used in animals other than horses and ponies, as severe adverse reactions, including fatalities in dogs, may occur. Ivermectin and excreted ivermectin residues may adversely affect aquatic organisms. Do not contaminate ground or surface water. Dispose of the syringe in an approved landfill or by incineration.

Side Effects

Swelling and itching reactions after treatment with Equimax Paste have occurred in horses carrying heavy infections of neck threadworm. These reactions were most likely the result of microfilariae dying in large numbers. Symptomatic treatment may be advisable. Healing of summer sores involving extensive tissue changes may require other appropriate therapy in conjunction with treatment with Equimax Paste. Reinfection, and measures for its prevention, should also be considered. Consult your veterinarian if the condition does not improve.
