Droncit is available by prescription only. Droncit includes the active ingredient praziquantel, a parasite-control drug with strong activity against a number of different tapeworms. Droncit works by impairing the function of the tapeworm’s sucker. Droncit dislodges the parasite’s attachment to the intestinal tract.

Cats (over 6 weeks of age), Dogs (over 4 weeks of age)

  • Tablets can be crumbled and mixed with food
  • Single-dose formula makes for easy oral administration

How it works

Praziquantel is a cestocide. Praziquantel works by damaging the parasite's skin internally so the parasite disintegrates and is removed by the pet's immune system.

Should be stored at room temperature, away from moisture and heat.

  • Because humans can contract tapeworms from animals, it is important to clean up after your pet and to wash your hands thoroughly.
  • Droncit may be crumbled and mixed with food, or given by mouth.
  • Fasting is neither necessary nor recommended while treating the pet.
  • A second treatment may be necessary.
