Lincocin Aquadrops is an easy to administer prescription antibiotic used to successfully treat bacterial infections in dogs, cats, and other species. Lincocin contains lincomycin hydrochloride that has both bacteriostatic and bactericidal properties against gram-positive microorganisms. Lincocin is prescribed for staphylococcus (Staph) and streptococcus (Strep) type bacterial infections but can be is used in some upper respiratory tract conditions and certain infections of the skin. Lincocin is also used in dogs and cats to treat infected wounds like bites, pustular dermatitis, laryngitis, and other infections.

How it works

Lincocin is absorbed in the digestive system and distributed to the body’s tissues, effectively fighting against infections in multiple organs. Lincocin Aquadrops is used to treat bacterial infections, especially staphylococcus (Staph) and streptococcus (Strep). Dosage is usually given two to three times a day for a number of days and if doses are missed or the entire treatment regimen is not completed, the infection could worsen or return. Consult your veterinarian if the animal's condition does not improve or worsens after beginning treatment.

Should be stored at room temperature, away from moisture and heat.

Each mL containing lincomycin hydrochloride equivalent to lincomycin, 50 mg; preserved with methylparaben 0.075%, propylparaben 0.025%, and sorbic acid 0.1%.

How to Use

Lincocin Aquadrops are given by mouth. Always follow the dosage instructions provided by your veterinarian. If you have difficulty giving the medication, contact your veterinarian. Use all of the medication prescribed, even if your pet appears well. Oral: 10 mg per pound of body weight every 12 hours or 7 mg per pound every 8 hours. Intramuscular: 10 mg per pound of body weight once a day or 5 mg per pound every 12 hours. Intravenous: 5 to 10 mg per pound of body weight one or two times per day diluted with 5 percent glucose in water or normal saline and given as a drip infusion. Treatment with Lincocin products may be continued for periods as long as 12 days if approved by your vet.

Side Effects

Loose stools occasionally have been observed in dogs and cats on oral doses. Vomiting in cats has occasionally been reported following oral administration.
